Yoga for Insomnia

Yoga for Insomnia

Insomnia can strike anyone at anytime, and most people have a spells when they take longer to nod off. When you are finding it difficult to sleep it can affect your entire life, making you groggy, irritable and unable to concentrate. Yoga can help you calm the mind and prepare the body for sleep, and in this video I share my nighttime routine of yoga for insomnia.

I used to find it so difficult to go to sleep and I would stay up all night counting how many hours I had left before my alarm would go off, then about twenty minutes before I had to get up I would fall into a deep sleep that made it almost impossible to rise out of bed and start my day.
Since I have had a regular yoga practise my sleep patterns have changed beyond recognition, I find falling to sleep  much easier and getting up is easier too.
I’m not going to lie and say that I have become a morning person who springs out of bed at 5am without so much as a look at the snooze button, more like someone who rolls out of bed at 7am feeling refreshed after a shower and a cup of tea.  This might not seem like such a big deal but the impact it has made on my life is immeasurable.

This is the gentle and specific routine that I do before I go to bed to help shake off the cobwebs of the day. This video is suitable for pregnancy but please follow the modifications 🙂

It might be difficult at first to create space for a yoga routine before bed, especially if you are the kind of person to use technology or watch telly right up until you fall asleep. However this video is only 15 minutes long, and if you commit yourself to doing it every day for a week, it’s not such a daunting task.

Goodnight!!
